Fathering Starlings is a Swedish lo-fi folk project inspired by old records, sagas and quiet landscapes.

Created by songwriter and producer Tobias Kjellberg, all songs are written, recorded and produced independently, with all vocals and instrumentation performed by him.

Working with simple equipment and traditional recording techniques, Fathering Starlings seeks to preserve and embrace the marks of handcraft – tape hiss, rough edges and rawness. The recordings are shaped by an interest in imperfection and a desire to carry the stories of humanity through both sound and song.

Rooted in folk traditions, memory and the Scandinavian landscape, the songs explore themes of time, loss, longing, hope and the traces people leave behind.
